hailing from berlin, but spiritually from chi-town, snuff crew are back in your area with some freshly served up basement goodies once again. following on from basement jams #1, from all the way back in 2011, the boys bring us tracks with the same playful nature as before but, dare i say it, they go even harder this time. stalwart fans of the first release can stop reading now because it will almost certainly be a blind-buy for you, four tracks obviously engineered for use in the club, whether its the massive kick in �what it is� or the ravey acid lead in �88cents�. the jams on the b-side may do the most damage. �remember� holds absolutely nothing back, with its arpeggiated bassline lead and crisper than crisp 909 drum programming. analog is a term that gets bandied about all the time nowadays, ever since so many young producers became enamoured with tape compression and hiss delay plug-ins. i know snuff crew are real analog guys though, in sound and mentality, so hearing basement jams #2 for the first time had me so excited once again.

now already almost a year has gone by since �inspiration�, the collaboration between jah wobble and singer pj higgins has come out on sonar kollektiv. with �chaingang (remixes)� we get a further renewal of one of the eight tracks off the album. for instance utrecht, netherlands based multi-instrumentalist and producer pitto gets down to work to morph the song into an eight-minute spheric techno extravaganza. some sort of a teaser for his upcoming album on sonar kollektiv later this year (although it will sound completely different). also releasing an album on sonar kollektiv in 2015 is producer marlow from weimar. his voodoo version of �chaingang� draws nearer to the original and incorporates the jubilee style gospel chanting to a hypnotically impelling rhythm. at the right time at the right place this remix will cause outmost frenzy on the dancefloor.

after debuting earlier this year on a collaborative split with max_m for parachute records, italian producer wrong assessment lands on m_rec ltd with his very own 12. disillusionment is a tightly programmed techno tool packed with groove. there�s a warm and almost melodic bass line here, clearly indebted to the detroit groove, but darkened as it has become custom with italian producers and their sound. the loops that develop around it are of the hypnotic kind� the sound that recently made m_rec ltd label of the month on resident advisor. parachute affiliate cw/a (already involved in clockwork and avatism) delivers a prime time remix that transform the original into an aggressive techno anthem. playing intelligently with the elements of the original, the remix delineates a very interesting narrative as it fluctuates between harshness, funk and psychedelia. expect major playtime. on the flip side, �persecutory beliefs� is basically a tribute to all proper techno dancefloors. with tension and tightness, the track revolves around a forward driving ravey refrain perfected for those late night sessions. closing the ep, �inner turmoil� follows a similar path, but gets druggier and more crepuscular as it evolves. like throughout the entire ep, there�s a love for proper 90s techno at play here. dark stuff for late, late nights. is it clear that max_m and his label m_rec ltd have discovered major talent in wrong assessment. expect more great things throughout 2015.

ednic is the italian duo of nicola di gabbia and edoardo cortopassi, and by all intents and purposes, they�re an outfit that�s on to a good thing right now. the guys make quality, analog-enriched house and techno, the likes of which comes to the fore here on puas puas, a vinyl only label that�s already featured the likes of the mole, alex piccini and carola pisaturo amongst others. first up on the exceptionally refined strands of the auberste ep sis the sounds of the original, which is a barnstorming cacophony of acid flourishes and tension-filled motifs. a track that�ll keep you on the edge of your seat for some time, it features shades of old-school electro and techno, and is the sort of track that�ll definitely rescue any ailing dancefloor. the aforementioned carola pisaturo then perks up with the first of her two remixes courtesy of her brilliant �church� mix. a bumping and grinding interpretation on the original, it too keeps the suspense high, most notably thanks to a dizzying array of melodies and a series of potent basslines. her �botta� remix is a more stripped back affair, albeit one that still speaks to fans of discerning fare thanks to its relentless attitude. full of shiny percussion and the odd sultry vocal smidgen, it�s further indication of a producer who looks set to enjoy an excellent 2015. this is classy stuff indeed from the puas puas label.

from the lands that time forgot birdie is proud to bring you an ep of the highest quality from the artist currently know as causa. hailing somewhere from up in the hills on the border between deepest darkest east lancashire and west yorkshire (thats up north to you lot) causa joe is a long time friend of trevino marcus. joe is underground and a lover of proper house music and has never been interested in music trends (he is a fisherman for christ sakes). he has been making music under various guises for 15 years with an apparent 6 year gap to go fishing. he has had releases with 202/20 vision tusk wax and paper recordings to name but a few. as marcus and joe still meet regularly for a pie and a pint its no real surprise then that this ep of some of marcuss favourite music of joes has come to pass. enjoy.

opener -she loves it- layers graceful elements, drifting sounds, pirouetting percussion and lets them slowly roll in like a thick fog. bvoice,anrilov & sickdisco deliver a more minimalistic version of -she loves it-. this guys are a great trio from moscow, analog gurus, already released on pro-tez, highway, time has changed, body parts. on the other side we have another piece of material from kirik called somewhere, which does the same job with similar elements. its melodious drum loop is the fulcrum around which densely layered hi-hats, shakers and various pads bounce and rotate. label boss, dirty culture deliver a more driven house version of somewhere, a more digestiv aproach. good vibes and melodic grooves from eastern europe, on wax!
